The impressive result of Christie's Tuesday's sale sort of manages to avoid the dampner of outlets picking up on the fact that all might not have been as it appeared. Mais 100% vendu, c'est impressionant, n'est-ce pas?

Slamming directly back into your digital existences with some straight-up arguments based entirely on Nochlin's famous essay that I *believe* some feminists have wilfully misread and distorted. You're welcome to disagree, such is the hallmark of a healthy society. First in yet another mini-series.

In advance of releasing November's article on The In advance of releasing November's article on The Frailest Gesture I present you with an audacious little teaser that might, or might not, mettre la puce à l'oreille in terms of subject matter.
I did enjoy colour matching my clothes to the book.

Making a somewhat tentative return to the gram after getting over a bit of fatigue I give you the final episode in the trilogy of Intrigue in the Art World. This was perhaps the most exciting article to write because I found the auction catalogue. Having what I'd term primary material to hand was very useful and it's all down to persistent searching on ebay.
This edition of TFG featured an auction house (Sotheby's), a non-existent collector (Helene Anderson), an intrepid photography scholar (Dr. Herbert Molderings), and Hitler's art thief (Hildebrand Gurlitt). I'd read it...

"Intrigue in the World of Photography II: The Fake "Intrigue in the World of Photography II: The Fake Man Ray Prints"
I got caught up in the excitement of researching those fake Lewis Hine prints and stumbled onto the case of the fake Man Rays. The story involves a high profile German art collector (Werner Bokelberg), a deceptive dealer with an amusing name (Benjamin Walter), and an acutely knowledgeable independent scholar (Steven Manford).
I contacted the International Foundation for Art Research, based in New York, for a copy of Steven Manford's essay, entitled, "Man Ray Photographs: The Problems Have Not Gone Away", which provided very helpful and slightly worrying insight into the issue of Man Ray photo fakery.
